Early Life and Military Career

Donald Thomas Regan was born in 1918. He graduated from Harvard University before serving in the United States Marine Corps during World War II, rising to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel.

Merrill Lynch Executive

After the war, Regan joined the investment firm Merrill Lynch in 1946. He quickly rose through the ranks, becoming the youngest general manager in the company's history. In 1981, he stepped down as chairman of Merrill Lynch after orchestrating its unprecedented growth.

Secretary of the Treasury

In 1981, President Ronald Reagan appointed Regan Secretary of the Treasury. In this role, he oversaw the implementation of the Reagan administration's economic policies, which focused on reducing government spending, taxes, and regulation.

Legacy

Donald Regan died in 2003. He is remembered as a successful businessman and a dedicated public servant who played a significant role in shaping the American economy during the Reagan era.
