Acrylic Nails: Damaging or Not?

The Truth About Acrylic Nail Removal

Acrylic nails have been a popular beauty trend for decades, but there has always been some debate about their potential damage to natural nails. While it's true that acrylic nails can be damaging if not removed properly, the actual removal process is the primary culprit.

Proper Acrylic Nail Removal

To avoid damaging your natural nails, it's crucial to follow the correct removal procedure. There are two main methods: soaking and clipping.

Soaking Method:

1. Clip the acrylic nails as short as possible.

2. Dip cotton balls in acetone and place them on the remaining acrylic.

3. Wrap foil around the cotton balls to secure them.

4. Let the nails soak for 15-30 minutes.

5. Gently push off the loosened acrylic with an orangewood stick.

Clipping Method:

1. Use a nail clipper to cut into the edge of the acrylic nail.

2. Carefully work the clipper around the nail to remove it.

3. Use a nail file to smooth any rough edges.

Note: Acetone-free options are available for those with sensitive skin or allergies.
